Anyone else remember this gem? I saw it when I was in elementary school. Actually, I still have a wooden train whistle I got at the show with the logo on the side.

It's the story of a boy who dreams his toy train comes to life. And from there on, it's a pure 80s-tastic production of people flying around the stage on rollerskates pretending to be trains. I don't care how ridiculous that sounds. It encompasses everything I love about entertainment, and even though critics like to declare it was a world-wide hit, we all know it plops right into the "B-rated" category.

If it was so popular, why aren't there any movie adaptations of it for sale? Or a compilation from the live shows? Come on, tell me Andrew Lloyd Webber isn't as embarrassed about this as George Lucas is about The Star Wars Holiday Special. So why should I be reduced to watching clips of Starlight Express on YouTube, with terrible sound quality? Throw me a bone here. Release it on DVD already.

Starlight Express, Starlight Express,
Are you real, yes or no?
Starlight Express, answer me yes
I don't want you to go
